After visiting briefly with the Suárez family we went to ride the TelefériQo gondola up the side of a nearby mountain. In Quito we were at about 9,300 feet, but on top of that mountain it must have been at least 12,000. Strangely, I saw no information on the altitude. I know we were beyond the tree line and there were clouds both above and below. I forgot the camera, but I found some good photos on the web and I'm showing them below. Luckily, the photographer happened to be there on a day when the weather was very much like the weather we experienced, so the photos do show what it looked like for us.
The second set of photos below were all taken just before and just after sunset near Fanny's sister Elsa's place in the Llano Grande barrio of Calderón on the north side of Quito. I used no flash on the outdoor shots, so things that are moving are blurred out due to the long exposure. In addition to the photos below, you can see more photos of all the different foods for sale inside Elsa's store.
